LoxL3 – a regulator of muscle-tendon junction

We have recently identified LoxL3 as the earliest gene required for the initiation of the muscle-tendon junction (Ortal’s paper). In mice mutant for LoxL3, the myotendinous junctions do not properly form. We further find that LoxL3 activity is required for Fibronectin matrix formation. Current work is aimed at identifying the interactions between LoxL3 and fibronectin as well as identifying the underlying mechanisms by which LoxL3 regulates myotendinous junction formation.
